I am manipulating my own life. Fuck the consensus. Fuck you. I don't have to justify anything. Especially my thug, for my swagger is of the same caliber as the feistiest of lions and the most notorious of rappers. Insolent, yes. Demented... somewhat. But I am me, and that's that.
Cheers to me. Cheers to you.
et c'est la raison que je suis desormer en couple. Avec le meiller personne possible: moi-meme.

Apple and Cinnamon
The chemistry of apple and cinnamon. Complementing flavors that when united make the sweetest treat. Sprinkled or dowsed, slices or pureed however they meet, still the same fantastic result. It is so simple and innocent.
Some things just make sense.

I love new york
I love you, dear city.
Our affair started one day, years ago in Jamaica.
With one F you showed me Queens, Kings and Manhattan.
With one A, I traversed your champagne bottle: the brim to the bottom.
With one R, I went from China to Korea, from stardom to a more subtle ground.
Though you've taken me all over the world, it's just a microcosmic taste.
I want to see the world; engorge in the larger picture which i have yet to see.
But I've decided, we must part our ways.
Though you feed me with the culture and the life that my body craves, I feel as if I haven't progressed anymore. I can't.
No longer am I on my toes wary of what may come, I see it before it even comes.
What happened to the spontaneous ville that left me wide-eyed and eager?
It's been harder for you to amuse me, and that worries me.
You're the greatest (and longest) love affair I've had, but I need more.
You'll always be in my heart. But I have to leave you soon, I need to continue to grow.
This plant can't remain potted in your soil forever.
These roots need to stretch for a while.

There's a riot in the lion's den...
... and it's me. Well me storming through translations of poetry, trying to get this thesis done. I worry that it won't be done on time, because i haven't really worked on it much during last semester and that's caught up to me (big surprise). In any case, I gotta do it, I gotta love doing it too.
On another note, music has been in the background during this process. Some albums worth checking out:
1
Justin Nozuka's Holly. I caught onto him last year when JuJu was blasting him while pregaming to go to a party. I thought his song "After Tonight" was a hot guitar-driven booty-shakin' anthem, to which i foolishedly danced to until I bothered to listen to the words. He's something: A voice like Justin Timberlake, and the guitar skills of Charro, which is phenomenal to say the least. He writes a lot of his stuff, and it's gushy, but it's relateable and relevant to me considering things of the recent past, and this thesis circulating around romantic texts.

The new Kelly Clarkson album, "All I Ever Wanted" is pretty amazing. I've liked her past albums, in particular "Breakaway." Though she had released "My December" during the summer of '07, it wasn't fun. It was good, but it wasn't fun, driven by ancst and rage. The new album takes it back to "Breakaway," and I'm really diggin' "My Life Would Suck Without You" (very "Since You've Been Gone" Kelly), "Impossible," "I Do Not Hook Up," "I'm Ready" and "I Want You." I want you has this 60's sugar-pop feel, and the lyrics are adorably written.

Lady Gaga - The Fame. Enough said.

Utada's new album, "This Is the One," which i sneakily acquired online (seeing as it came out this week in Japan, and won't be available for here in the states for another 2 weeks digitally, and in May as a physical copy.) Anywho, it's her 3rd english language album, and her 8 overall. Although Utada's Japanese stuff is amazing, Her English material I look forward to. With the-Dream and Stargate at the production-side of this endeavor, I think this could really be the one that may get her acknowledged in the US music scene beyond "Simple and Clean," the theme to Kingdom Hearts. Her first attempt to get on the scene stateside was "Exodus," which was very experimental as far as pop went, and although creatively rich, it wasn't something that would otherwise click with the masses. I liked it, and I've been looking forward to this album (TITO) since rumours were bubbling around the web last year. "Apple and Cinnamon" (A beautifully-written R&B song), "Me Muero" (picante and latin influenced track) and the clubbin' and boozin' potential anthems "On and On" "Dirty Desire" are some of the songs that I'm really liking.
Pop has made a tasteful return.

"Read some Byron, Shelly and Keats
Recited it over a Hip-Hop beat
I'm having trouble saying what I mean
With dead poets and drum machines"
Reading and writing, though baffling and difficult at times, has become something enjoyable. That's putting passion to good use.

Time: A confidant which retains things far longer than any ears. However, there are things that can't be left up to the past to retain, and it is in those instances that one must have a creative outlet. Writing has been entrusted with my feelings, with anything that needs to be expressed.
So now I have a completed letter written, filled with unrequited feelings and numerous questions that try to make sense of this disastrous situation. Sending it would give some reassurance of closure, but it would what good would it do at this point? It's old news... but in writing, at least these feelings have been exorcised.

SeniorProject
I (finally) got some work done on my senior project. This thesis is going to be my pride and joy. It will be an in-depth analysis of the translation of selected poetic works in English, Spanish, and French. Though many of them will be translation of surrealist poems, I do want to work with the Romanticism movement, in particular, Byron, Shelley and Keats. Surrealist poets will probably include Garcia Lorca, Aragon, Eluard, Cesaire, Beckett, and of course Breton. One other poet included in all of this is me, as I will proudly work with some (2 i think) of my own poems.
I also will be working with 3 songs, only 2 which i've at the moment selected, Frou Frou - It's good to be in love, and Natasha Bedingfield - These words, the latter being a source of literary inspiration and the first kind of fits in with all these other poems of unrequited love, and the concept of shoulda woulda coulda...
It now has a direction and and primary sources. Time to piece together the bibliography.
